This page is maintained by Scavengo to answer common privacy and security questions about the Scavengo app. It explains what information we may collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. What we collect

We only collect information that is needed to run the game and improve your experience. Depending on how you use Scavengo, this may include:

• Account information such as your display name, email address, and profile photo if you choose to sign up.
• Game activity such as boards played, items found, scores, and photos you submit as proof of a find.
• Device and usage data such as app version, device type, crash logs, and approximate location if you grant location permissions.
• Communication information such as messages you send through our support or contact forms.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Host multiplayer hunts, keep score, and sync progress across devices.
• Provide customer support and respond to your questions.
• Improve the app, fix bugs, and develop new hunt themes and features.
• Send optional updates, newsletters, or promotional messages if you opt in.
• Enforce our Terms of Service and keep the game safe and fair.

Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with a small number of trusted service providers who help us operate the app, such as cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, and customer support tools. These providers are only allowed to use your data for the services they provide to us, and we choose providers with strong security practices.

Where your information is stored

Scavengo is operated from Canada, and your account, hunts, finds, and photos are hosted in Canada.

Some of the service providers described above operate outside Canada, so limited information may be processed in other countries — for example crash reports, anonymous analytics, and the push-notification services operated by Apple and Google that deliver alerts to your device. While information is outside Canada it may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities of that country under its own laws. We choose providers with contractual protections comparable to those required here.

Advertising

Scavengo shows banner adverts, supplied by Google. Adverts are limited to creatives rated for general audiences.

Where the law requires your consent before adverts can be personalised, you will be asked, and you can change your answer at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices in the app. If you do not consent, or where consent is not sought, you will still see adverts — they simply will not be based on your interests.

Cookies and analytics

Our website may use small cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site and to remember basic preferences. We may use analytics services to collect anonymous traffic data. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep it for legal, security, or business record-keeping purposes.

Your privacy choices and rights

You can update your profile, change your email preferences, or delete your account from the app settings. Deleting your account is also the way to have your finds and photos removed — leaving a hunt keeps them.

Under Canadian privacy law, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to withdraw your consent to our use of it — subject to legal and contractual limits, and understanding that withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide parts of the Service. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children’s privacy

Scavengo is a general-audience game. It is not directed at children and is not designed or marketed specifically for them, though families often play it together.

Accounts require you to be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. This includes using encryption for data in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews. No online service is completely secure, so we encourage you to use strong passwords and keep your devices secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
